Founding Mujo: the easiest way for stress to not work against you

Hi there.

I’m Kinga, the founder of Mujo. About three years ago, I found myself pulling my proverbial hair out. I was a new mom back at my demanding job as a start-up CFO. I was grappling with mom guilt and trying to strike that delicate balance of professional success and being a present family member. Like many overworked and overachieving humans, I was running low on sleep and high on anxiety. Instead of helping, coffee was losing its effectiveness. I was on a fast track to burnout.

Burnout is not just a mental state. The research is clear that prolonged mental stress or trauma can manifest as physical illness. Chronic stress, or this persistent feeling of pressure and overwhelm, can disrupt vital processes in the body, leading to dysfunction.

Today, a staggering 75% of Americans experience health issues due to stress. Yet, we’ve normalized this “hustle culture,” and for many high achievers, this actually hinders their performance and makes them sick.

I may be a pragmatic economist by training, but my essence is deeply rooted in kitchen alchemy. Over a decade ago, I watched my dad fight a losing battle against cancer. It was then I began to learn about the extraordinary power of adaptogens, mushrooms, and Ayurveda. At 56, he was much too young to go, leaving three daughters in their 20s behind, missing out on walking us down the aisle and meeting his grandchildren. Compelled to take a proactive approach to my own health and wellness, I began to lean on Mother Nature and biohacking. "Start early," I told myself, "so you can be there for your great-grandchildren, with a sharp wit and endless stories to tell, like my dad should have been."
